Sydney x2

I went to Sydney twice, due to floods up north.  If you want details, visit the previous post below.

Sydney is one of Austrailia's oldest cities (which isn't saying much, if you're European) and by far one of the most beautiful.  Ok, I didn't see them all but as far as cities go, it's pretty cool.

In both my tours there, I managed to get to see and do a lot, as well as relax and take it easy ( a bit.)  Below are some chronologically random highlights, further descriptions under each picture.

The end of the 3 hour walking Tour of Sydney.  Somewhere at the end of the Botanical Gardens.  I learned a lot about Australia's and Sydney's history.  And I retained about thaaaat much (*thumb and index finger almost touching*)

One of many views of the Sydney Opera House.  I went on the very expensive *VIP* backstage tour at 7 in the morning.  This was the only time when we could sneak into the dressing rooms.  I managed to take pictures of things we otherwise wouldn't be allowed to cause I told our guide I was a stage manager.  Totally nerdy SM pics of SM desks to follow...

Melanie and me on Saturday night after day 1 of the Groove facilitator course.  Totally worth doing it again and so glad I did.  We had a little Groove session with a live band on the promenade this night.  So fun!

The stage manager's desk at the main stage of the Sydney Opera House.  No one else took the pictures I took ...but no one else was a theatre production nerd like me....

This is a complelety legitamate pose.  On the walking tour, we were told that people rub the wild boar's nose for luck.  And they rub his bits if they want to get lucky...This pic is for Miss Canday and Miss Cindy...

Again, my obsession with bats continues. This time, in the Sydney Botanic Gardens.  I mean, come on, they're right there!

Random Danish stuff

Somehow, this reminds me of Barry.  In the dressing room, I had to beg to be able to take this picture as it was otherwise off-limits.

The Groove girls on a Saturday night.

Back at the Sydney Opera House backstage tour.  A platfrom control panel older than the theatre.  It was ordered before the whole change of architects, this is going to take more time and money than we thought phase.  So by the time the theatre was done, this was already out of date.

Hey!  Be a man! Do the right thing!

Sydney.  From the Opera House.

The Chinese Gardens

50 cent a lot of money!

Okay, this is Adelaide.  Only didgeridoo player I saw, aside from the cultural show at the Aboriginal Center.

Saturday night fireworks

In Adelaide.  This guy had all the little loons following him for a few crumbs.

Sydney Mardi Gras, aka Pride Festival.  This was Fair Day.  I think these guys compete in the Gay Games.

Not Bondi Beach but on the way to it.

A memorial for the people from the Dolphin Point area that were killed in the 2002 Bali bombings.

" Now let's have a lesbain this time!" When I didn't wave my hand frantically, the lesbian who was clearly trying to hit on me walked away. She wasn't my type anyway....

Lots of people use this path for running/walking.  I love this circuit training concept.

Yes, I swam at Bondi Beach!  And this annoying girl wouldn't get out of the shot....

Pre shark diving

This is one of my favorite shots so far.  This is the same shark in the pic below, just closer to the camera.  But he looks that much bigger, doesn't he?  :-)

Finally, a sea turtle!

I just can't get enough of these bats

Botanic Gardens in macro

Yellow-crested cockatoos in the city.  They are loud little suckers.

Possum

Feeding the wallabies

Kookaburra

Roo with joey

Little penguin.  So freaking cute.

Finally, I get to see a dingo.  Not quite the experience I expected.  He couldn't be bothered to pose for the camera like the penguins.

Penguins posing.  Good little penguins

Albino kangaroo

The Three Sisters

Tassie beer

Yummy gourmet food

La Soiree.  One of the best spectacle shows I have seen in a long time.  I dare say almost better than Cirque de Soleil.
